Vedanta Semiconductor and Display Global MD Akarsh K. Hebbar K says that Vedanta Group is preparing to build India\’s first semiconductor and display fab in Dholera Special Investment Zone of Ahmedabad district. Hebbar said that good progress has been made towards adding technology and equity partners in semiconductors and we will make an announcement soon. According to the news, the state government has allotted land in Dholera and the work of preparing it for fab construction is already underway.

Hebbar said, “At DisplayFab, we have a partnership with Innolux and we are ready to grow rapidly with the full support of our partner. The company is currently awaiting government approval on its application under the revised scheme for semiconductor and display fabs. As soon as the approval is received, we will start the construction immediately. The company says that the Prime Minister will set out on the path of making India self-reliant in electronics.

Vedanta group chairman Anil Agarwal had recently said that he is 100 percent committed to the production of semiconductor (chip manufacturing in India) and display glass in India and has also prepared partners for this.
